Artist Profile

Born in Ithaca, New York in 1953, Victoria Block is a landscape painter and ceramicist who lives and works in Montreal. She studied at York University in Toronto and obtained her BFA from Concordia in 1978. Since then she has participated in more than 40 solo and group shows and her work is in public and private collections around the world, notably Canadian Embassies in China, Mexico, Zimbabwe, Guatemala, and in the House of Commons in Ottawa, Ontario. Her most recent exhibition was Narratives last fall at the Gulf Coast Museum in Largo, Florida. In recent years, she has been exhibiting large format painting and groupings of ceramics together to create environments that reflect the tactile and emotional aspects of nature. She is represented by St-Laurent & Hill in Ottawa; Gallery Monaro and Beaux Arts David Astrof in Montreal, Hollander York Gallery in Toronto, Gibson Fine Arts in Calgary, Birchwood Art Gallery in Winnipeg, and Harrison Gallery in Vancouver.
